Oh Happy Day: Sunday Bazar, Local Products & Brand Phobia

Let's be realistic. All of us, at some point in our lives, have entertained in purchasing the oh- not so original and branded items. The inexpensive and cheaper pieces from Sunday bazar, random street vendors, and ever famous desi thailay are rare these days.In early 90's, when wearing branded clothes was not our superiority. Why People I mean the genuine awaam of Pakistan spend money on purchasing pirated CDs, publications, clothes and other essentials of life. In some areas of Pakistan these practices are still alive. The reason for purchasing inexpensive material is you spend less and you get more. Who considers if the surface of the book they read is not as heavy as the original, or the audio on their cd is a little too high-pitched?usually, this is not the case. Although pirated materials are morally incorrect.

A few years back, the aunties used to waste time on designing their clothes. The brands were less, the competition scarcely existed although it did of course in the creams (Majorly DHA walay) where it always has. Why is it important to for us to acquire branded stuff?t. After the progression of technology and social media, we saw design sense and an urge to look more fashionable and branded. This wave has trickled nearly all women minds of our country. As the demand increased, so did the supply. Deciding from the billboards, magazines, exhibitions and Facebook e -stores we are stuck in this brand competition. Interestingly the number of fashion designers are   increasing rapidly in Pakistan (Almost in every street of Karachi you can find designer Tony and Faiza easily *Yawn*)

An ordinary female in Karachi can easily spend Rs.6,000 on one designer LAWN DRESS. I'm excluding the darzi charges, fancy laces, not to forget fuel charges. It gets super costly, on top of that you can't spend entire summer in one dress. These days common female wants to get her hands on the exceptional, but her cradle doesn't allow this branded stuff. After all this struggle we have to explain our position 'Logon ko bhe toh dikhana hai'.

Being a fashion devotee and shopping freak. I am well aware of the incalculable hours and hard work put in to come up with bizarre clothes. It is no news that a good design will not stay in its original form if people really liked it .On a recent rendezvous with a salesman at one of Karachi's popular market, I figured out how this fake circle works.I heard the typical salesman sell his fancy copied bags 'Baji, yeh wala bag dekhien, Hermes ka first copy hai'. These bums think they can cash on designers popularity. These douche bags are spoiling their market reputation, but somehow they are gaining local market share.

Nothing is original in this world. It's an ongoing cycle that keeps revolving, showing us its different sides from time to time. It's all about your personality, you can't adapt each fashion trends on yourself. So whether your are buying local or branded stuff just make sure about one thing it should represent your style. Try to make your choices, style statements within your budget. On this whole piece, I want to quote,

Only irregular great personalities insist on their originality
