Modernization - An Emerging Enigma
Everyone seems fixated with the modernization bubble. In reviewing this enigma, learning the real diversity is essential. Pakistan's confrontation with the Westward over the past three eras underscores the distinction underlies in two manners - Modernization and Westernization -- both terms are frequently considered to be synonymous. In fact, modernization does not support Westernization, though modernization entails a transformation in faith about the process the world operates. Whereas, Westernization involves diversity in cosmological notions about the way that one should lead the life.
From quick updates on our social platforms, Smartphone, boozing, dance parties on weekends, wild sex life or gym-ing with females. Are we stuck in the great dilemma - imitating the west? Or our lifestyles are progressing by modern advancement. The struggle is real; somehow the change is invading our mental peace it seems we all are in a rat race which is morally wretched. The contradiction of religious, modernization, and affection for the West is affecting our roots and Gen X severely. Our life is encompassed on the prevailing fashion trends, extremely filtered selfies, ideal social accounts and fancy outings. Where are we heading?
The significant influence on the modernization is a shift in technology, and we're getting fastened to it. In reality, modernity comes from the acceptance of progression. Progress in society brings change in our mindsets, stable socio-economic class, mutual respect, and acceptance of equality. It anticipates treating your maids with utter admiration, avoiding teasing a girl at the bus stop, neither judging others while exercising, not looking down upon a friend who is working part-time. It entails a drastic shift in our decision process which is based on casteism, social statuses, gender inequality, and society norms.
If are we aping the west, why don’t strive for the Independency concerning financial support? If you can decide about your future then why we order our parents to pay for it? A lot has been written and said about feminists. Mostly, for the people who support them without acknowledging the real enigma. Feminism, women empowerment, and gender equality are essential to understanding for the effective implementation.
Becoming modern requires an evolving method - in customs, learning, and implementation. It involves prudent and deliberate struggles to get to the radix cause of development. Modernity will come when we as a society would ignite questioning "Why" and "How". The evolution process has commenced, but there is still time before I can say that the youth today is becoming "modern".
