NYLC Takes A Step To Spread Happiness And Joy

It is common knowledge, yet more so a truth, that EID Festival is not just for the rich or the materialistically blessed ones. The poor, the handicapped, the special and the orphans have as much right on this festival as any other. But due to unfortunate circumstances that our country is a victim of, it has lost its originality.

To change this, the NYLC (National Youth Leadership Club) took an initiative to spread happiness and joy with the simple motive “Happiness begins”. Bright and early on the 16th of July, 2016, the NYLC and a dozen volunteers visited Dar-ul-Sukun for an EID Milan.

The day started off with introduction to the children and adults who were in the garden enjoying the pitter patter of the rain, followed by the national songs. The enthusiasm was shared by all as they showed us their EID clothes and told us about their daily routines. Simultaneously, a couple of volunteers were setting tables for face painting, leaf and hand printing and a props stall. A huge crowd of overly excited and happy kids was scattered all over the ground at Dar-ul-Sukun and the joy on their faces could be seen from miles. With each hand being stamped on the chart sheet, those who were able to, they wrote their names and got prizes in return such as rings, necklaces or bracelets.

Soon after the activities were done the NYLC volunteers distributed goodie bags which consisted of chips, juice chocolates and biscuits and coloring books along with a color box, and moved towards the building to visit those who were unable to come downstairs. More goodie bags were distributed and many prayers and hugs were received. But this was not all. The NYLC Management brought along with them cartons of eatables which included Cerelac, porridge, and many more for the residents.

Children like Peter and Aaron and Aazmeer and Rehan, Rosy and Sony deserve all the happiness. Being orphans or handicapped or even special should not be the source of the decisions that are made. These kids deserve the toys, the joys of life and equal opportunity to live life. NYLC being the one to take a step to celebrate the festival of EID with them brought out the twinkle in their eye that every kid has.

While taking a feedback from the newly induct team member, what she said :

First of all, I would like to thank the core organizer Syed Ali Asghar for organizing such a beautiful event which gave me an opportunity of playing a role in someone else's life and helping people who may not be able to help themselves. It gave me confidence and I would love to attend such events.
